When the students enter the university they collide with many problems: payment for the studying, poor time management, lack of free time and many essential tasks. One of the most difficult tasks for the students refers to the exams. The students often receive very difficult questions to answer during the exam. To get good academic grades the students have to pay attention on the strategy which can help them to answer difficult exam questions. The process of question answering during the exam consists of three main stages: 1) translation of the question into other words, which are simpler and easier to understand; 2) read each type of the question several types and form the plan of the answer; 3) use the described strategy of the question answering.
Each word can be translates into other words and in these case the question cab be simpler. The surrounding of the words can help the students to understand the common meaning of the question and find the key of the task.
The next recommendation is to use the general questions to the exam task, for example: “what do I know about…?”
Before to make the final answer, try several answers and try to guess which answer will suit the teacher and which answer is right. Try to be flexible during the examination. Sometimes you will not give the right answers on the exam questions. In this case you have to choose the best variant. But do not leave the empty space in the control paper.
During the exam try to use the method of logical reasoning. Find all possible answers and ask yourself: “what will happen in the case…?”
Sometimes the students collide with the problem during the solving of multiple choice tests, when more than one answer can be right. In this case the student has to do the following things:
- pick up those options which you are sure in;
- pick up those options which you are sure are incorrect;
- select the best answer.

It means that the students have to understand and remember the main idea. This type of memory work is very useful, especially for such university disciplines and subjects, as social sciences, arts, literature.
The second type is so – called verbal memorizing. It means that the students have to remember the same words which the teacher says. This type of memory is useful for such disciplines, as mathematic, engineering, law, science, dramatic and foreign languages. - The next step is to divide all educational materials into several manageable parts and to learn them gradually.
- The second type of memorizing needs to repeat essential material several times. It can be made during the free time – during the walk or sport activities.
- The students have to be interested in the things they learn. In this case they will have better motivation to remember.
- First of all the students have to learn the most important things.
- Try to make the studying materials impressive. For is try to make the illustrations, examples and applications.
- Try to use the graphic forms of studying.
